I am a native of Missouri, where the rivers run, and I love to fish, camp, canoe, hike, pretty much anything outdoors.  Born into a Christian home, I received the Lord at a young age but didn’t really “own” the faith until I was 19– when I decided to stop borrowing my parents’ faith and make it mine.

Following God’s call into vocational ministry, I studied music, graduating from Culver-Stockton College (B.M.E.) in 2006, and from Moody Theological Seminary (M.Div.) in 2016.  I met my bride, Corinne, at Hannibal-LaGrange University, and we have four boys, Asher, Jack, Elliot, and Graham.

I’ve been a musician as long as I can remember, and I’ve served in worship arts ministry for over 20 years.  I have 12 years of on-staff pastoral experience, serving as Worship Leader at Bethel Assembly of God Church in Quincy, IL, Worship Arts Pastor at Central Baptist Church in Springfield, IL, and as Associate Pastor at Pontiac Bible Church in Pontiac, IL.  I recently accepted the call to serve as Lead Pastor at LakeView Church in Stoughton, WI.  I have provided leadership in worship arts, missions, small groups, technology, and administration.  I’m passionate about leading the church to create glimpses of the Kingdom of Heaven through passionate worship, biblical teaching, relational discipleship, intentional outreach, and radical generosity.  According to StrengthsFinder, I am a SLARI—strategic, learner, achiever, relator, input.

I’m a geek who loves all things tech, and whose favorite fictional work is the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  I have plans to continue studying theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and hope to earn a Ph.D.  As a musician, I play piano, saxophone, and guitar, and love blues, jazz, rock, and Americana music.  I regularly listen to Elvis, Johnny Cash, Madison Cunningham, The Gray Havens, The Lone Bellow, Wynton Marsalis, Eric Lindell, and Bob Mintzer, among many others (and I got to see one of B. B. King’s last live shows).  For worship music, I recommend Vertical Church Band, Crowder, All Sons and Daughters, Matt Maher, Phil Wickham, Chris Tomlin, Ascend the Hill, and too many others to list.

One quirky hobby I enjoy is coffee roasting.  I like to buy the beans raw and experiment with various roasts and blends!  I can make Starbucks taste like gas station coffee… stop by Stoughton sometime, and I’ll brew you a cup that really is a foretaste of Heaven!
